Head Space Daily Words...

On the journey to Ikea, a change comes over me. As we approach the towers of the Croydon shop, a glazed over, almost hypnotic effect descends and by the time I'm through the doors, I'm fully gripped by the Ikea Trance. Once under its spell, the Ikea trance allows you to become receptive to homogenous tat and fittings that you had no intention of buying, as you drift around the seemingly endless, maze-like corridors in your dream-like condition. The colour coordination, the poster of the Swedish woman smiling serenely down, with a twinkle in her eye, the relentless mass of product. This sensory assault would make me feel guilty if I left the shop empty handed. At the end of this morning's Ikea visit, we came away with a pair of table legs and a tin opener but resisted the garlic press. A recognised effect of the Ikea Trance is to mistakenly purchase an item in the wrong size, hence forcing you into a return trip to change said item and fall under the spell once again. The fact the blind we picked up today is lacking 60 centimetres in width can only be down to one thing - the Ikea Trance...
