If you
ever see a loon in running tights, wearing a 70s tea cosy style hat on his head, as he bounds and wheezes his way through the
streets of Brockley this winter, that’ll be me. I went for my first run in a long time today – and completely
over did it. It felt great for so long, a real spring in my step, then the
uphill section did for me and it was game over. There are two routes that I
have - one short – to ease me back into running, the other a fair bit longer,
for when I’m back up to speed. A rush of blood to the head made me think that I
didn’t need to do the short course and could go straight for the long one. I
was wrong and when I passed two guys on our street as I ran home, they looked
concerned for my well being - either that, or disbelief at my outfit. Once sprawled across my settee, with my
breathing stabilised and able to move again, post exercise endorphins
kicked in, and I ended up watching Battleship
Potemkin, before picking up my son from school, then coming home to make a
family meal of home made burgers and chips. Get in…
