Head Space Daily Words...

I started writing a few words as I was about to put up today's Daily Tune and then it started to grow into something bigger, so I thought I would share it in my Daily Words. I have been working from home today, tying up the loose ends of a job, getting sign off, uploading large files, reloading the same large files as my broadband connection failed and preparing for my final day on this current booking. As the working day came to a close I thought, I need a release, something to energise me - and I went straight to a Northern soul tune (see Daily Tune.) What I love about Northern soul is the sheer raw energy and spontaneity of it. They may not be the cleanest produced or the most musically perfect but they have a purity and honesty, a sense of freedom and joy, which can only lead to an uplifting outcome - the need to smile and the urge to dance - which can be no bad thing. Many of the artists are virtual unknowns. This was their moment of creative expression, etched onto three minutes of black vinyl. The fact that a British scene saved these artists not only from obscurity but from oblivion, says a lot about young Britons' discerning taste, as well as their need for a subculture and an identity that revolves around music, music that doesn't conform - and damn fine music at that too. Every generation has it's moment and every moment should be revered...
