Head Space Daily Words LIVE...
I bring this to you live as the build up takes place for England v Japan in the Semi Final of the Women's World Cup. They are currently showing the goals from 1966 and playing World In Motion from the 1990 Men's World Cup. There goes Gazza's tears, oh dear Chris Waddle. Tonight, whatever the result, is a huge night in British sport and English football. The kids football team that I have managed for the past couple of seasons, has two girls in the squad. They have been an integral and extremely important part of my group. One of them is a tenacious defender who reads the game extremely well, the other is an old school winger, who wears her socks rolled down and has bags of ability. They are the only two girls I saw playing football in the entire SelKent League last season - and the Selkent League is an enormous organisation. They have both since been signed up by Crystal Palace, to play for their girls side, which is an amazing achievement and something that I am extremely proud of. Now that the England Women's team has made it to the Semi Final, these girls have their own role models and the players will become household names. This is a massively important moment for women's sport in Britain. The advert for Sport England, which ends with the tag line This Girl Can will surely now become, This Girl Did.
