Head Space Daily Words...

A belated Happy New Year to anyone who may read this. Whilst I wait for someone to employ my freelance broadcast creative skills - I am currently available by the way - it is time to pursue new ventures and pursuits. First up is football management. I have become the 'boss' of my youngest son's Under 9s team. When thinking of football managers, I had always envisaged a sheepskin coat, jingle jangle jewellery, a cigar and a jag - in the style of Malcolm Allison and Big Ron. Alas, I am now wearing the modern day garb of a pitch side manager/coach, consisting of water proof sports jacket - with retractable hood - water proof sport trousers - with ankle zips - and football boots - complete with stud spanner. I mustn't forget the de rigeur beanie and fetching hoodie, all bearing the club crest. It's a nice look - honest. Our first game last Sunday was away from home. At this age group, the matches are 7-a-side and when we arrived with only six players, to meet a squad of fourteen, the opposition manager sportingly agreed to play six a side, rather that insist on seven versus six. At half time we were losing 4-1 but after a rousing team talk, a few tactical switches and an entire packet of custard creams, the team came out with renewed energy and we eventually lost 6-4. It was a fantastic first match display and I was proud of them all. How much of it was down to the custard creams, I don't know but custard creams are not on FIFAs banned list of substances - so we are in the clear. Roll on next Sunday. My other 'first' was making ginger bread biscuits yesterday (see Daily Image.) If I keep it up and work on my range and technique, I think the Great British Bake Off could be calling...
