Lovely little souly number released in January, featuring Terri Walker who was doing good things a decade ago. Nice to hear her back in action...

Our eldest son went to an open evening at his new Secondary School today, which he starts in September. He's totally ready for it and was buzzing when he got home. The big wide world gets ever closer...

BORED! BORED! BORED! Today I felt like Vivian from the Young Ones. Pass me a rubber cricket bat. BORED! WHACK! BORED! CRASH! And it's still bloody raining. BORED! My back garden looks like a swamp. Yes, I know, I'm lucky to have a back garden, just not when it looks like Yoda's gaff on Dagobah. BORED! SMACK! White lines don't do it!! Big Rob coming round for a brew relieved the tedium for an hour or so, then - BORED! Stairs mopped. Kitchen floor mopped. Bathroom cleaned. BORED! Musically, I went from the Sugar Man soundtrack, to Gil Scott Heron Winter In America, to Kurt Vile Smoke Ring For My Halo. On the song Peeping Tomboy, little Kurt sings "I don't want to work but I don't want to sit around all day frowning." Actually Mr Vile, I do want to work and I quite enjoy frowning - it makes me look a bit hard. BOSH! Anyway, I was drifting towards musical meltdown and William It Was really Nothing by The Smiths, when salvation arrived in the form of having to cook the family meal. A Motown compilation went on the pod and before you knew it, I was manic dancing around the kitchen, whilst chopping leeks and sausages. PHEW!

I love this photograph of my wife (when she was about four years old) with her two brothers in the mid 1970s on Southend beach...

The only time I can truly remember really
going for it on St Patrick’s Day is when I was a student in Sheffield. We ended
up at a small pub just outside the centre of the city and as well as drinking a
ridiculous amount of alcohol, I also snorted a bucket load of snuff. Well, maybe not a bucket load but the next
morning, not only did I wake up with a colossal hangover, I also woke up with
the most ginormous black bogies imaginable, blocking my nose…
