Head Space Daily Words...

Bubbles is our goldfish, which is a loose term as he is not actually golden and has resided in our dining room for almost two years. He originally had a companion named Fred, whom he would regularly attack, attempting to bite chunks out of him and generally terrorise his play mate. No doubt, as a result of one of these savage, unprovoked outbursts of violence, Fred met with an untimely watery grave. Following this tragic event, struggling with an extreme sense of isolation, Bubbles lost the sight in his right eye after an altercation with his lighthouse, (see Bubbles pictured below with said lighthouse.) Nowadays, this one eyed cannibalistic 'gold'fish seems content with his own company and is regularly seen mouthing the words 'what you looking at tosser' through the glass of his stately home...

Disclosure feat. Sinead Harnett - Boiling

This tune came out last year and really reminds me of listening to pirate radio stations in the early to mid 90s. I can just hear a DJ cutting in to give shout outs to his mates and listeners. "Big shout out to... Keep it locked on...Hold tight." In this case, they do make them like they used to.

Head Space Daily Words...

It was my eldest son Noah's eleventh birthday party today. We took him and a bunch of mates bowling at Surrey Quays. A good time was had by all. When we were back at our house for food, cake and the singing of happy birthday, it was a real window into the future. They were all sat around the dining table, eating pizza and having boy chat, about football and computer games but also having slightly smutty, proper lads banter. The jokes and put downs were flying and I could just picture them all in ten years time, sat around the pub, pints in hand, doing pretty much the same thing. Growing up fast...

Bobby Womack - Everything Gonna Be Alright

This is the b-side of my latest e bay purchase. It has that mid 70s wah wah cop show feel, a wicked bass hook, then Bobby Womack's voice just lifts it to a whole other level. Stormin'...

Head Space Daily Words...

We are forever floating on a transcendental wave of nostalgia. We can never know what tomorrow will bring so can only look back with any certainty, because time can't change what has already happened. And we love looking backwards through our rose tinted glasses, listing our favourite this, or favourite that. And why not? It is good to remember and believe that things were somehow better back in the day. Today's nostalgia reminiscence comes from 6Music as they ride their own wave of nostalgia and celebrate the best 100 songs throughout their first decade as voted for by listeners. So long as Muse aren't number one, I'm all for it.

It must be a tough life being an ice cream man during the barren winter months. Not many jobs are so seasonal or dependent on the weather. Therefore, spare a thought for your local ice cream man...

Farley Jackmaster Funk feat. Daryl Pandy - Love Can't Turn Around

Farley Jackmaster Funk featuring Darryl Pandy never sounded better than on New Year's Eve 1992 as this classic Chicago House anthem was played at midnight at the long since departed Wobble night club in Hockley, Birmingham. It followed the Leftfield remix of Stereo MCs 'Step It Up' and rarely have two records sounded so good together . The dance floor lierally wobbled as the entire place erupted...
